Ergonomic Consulting
During the COVID-19 restrictions and ongoing economic reopening, Dr. David is offering remote home ergonomic consultations at reduced rates. Consultations will be one-on-one appointments through Zoom.
As a result of COVID-19, many people have transitioned their computer work into their home environment. This has allowed people to continue working, but few people had dedicated work stations at home when this all started. As people work on laptops in makeshift offices, at the dinner table, or even on the couch, their bodies are having to deal with long hours in strange postures, and this leads to more discomfort.
Through ergonomics, you can learn how to manage your work practices, adopt less stressful postures, and incorporate new equipment. These changes will ultimately create a more sustainable work environment.
This ergonomic education will be useful now and into the future. Now it will help you work from home while COVID-19 runs its course. In the future, you can take the new work practices and postures back to your office, or continue to use them if your job decides to allow you to keep working remotely.
With remote consultations, you will need to be a more active participant in the evaluation process. Before the consultation, I encourage people to provide me with photos and videos (hopefully candid) to give me an idea of how you work. Then during the consultation we can focus on ways to minimize stress and strain on the body.
What are some common computer related complaints?

Shoulder pain

Back pain
Leg / buttock pain and numbness

Generalized Fatigue
For Businesses
Due to COVID-19, all ergonomic services will be remote consultations. I am happy to do a single evaluation for an individual or perform evaluations for multiple employees, and evaluations can be performed for home or in-office workstations.
Given the remote nature of the evaluations, they will emphasize education on how to make changes in work practices and posture that can minimize the stress and strain on the body. This education is useful while working from home, but can also be carried forward when the employee returns to working in the office.
Equipment recommendations will focus on creating adaptable work spaces and environments. An adaptable work space makes it easier (or even possible) for a worker to use their new work practices and postural knowledge to reduce the stress and strain on their body. Your company’s resources and preferences for equipment purchases will be discussed prior to any individual evaluations and recommendations.
